File under : Who would have guessed it?

An absolutely stunning revelation is brought to light in an article by Wolfgang Polzer writing for the ASSIST News Service (ANS).

Wolfgang’s posting is titled;

Why Does the EU Keep Silent About Persecution of Christians?”

In the article Wolfgang cites a book titled; “Against Christianity: The UN and the EU as a New Ideology” written by a couple of Italian authors, Eugenia Roccella and Lucetta Scaraffia.

The book tells of some of the United Nation’s attempts to produce a new moral code to replace the Ten Commandments with something a little less, well, restrictive. A moral code that was more in tune with “New Age” thinking is what they were seeking to write. They wanted an “earth charter”, a nice blend of religion, ecology and paganism.

Of course, the idea of a replacement for the Ten Commandments with the New Age “earth charter” got the Roman Catholic Church to voice a protest.

Eugenia Roccella and Lucetta Scaraffia feel that the UN and the EU (European Union) see the Roman Catholic Church along with some other religions as a threat to their plans.

The European Parliament’s commission on human rights wastes little time before speaking out and criticizing the crackdown in China on the religious group Falun Gong or the Buddhists. They’re pretty tight-lipped when it concerns the treatment of Chinese Christians.

The EU is willing to vocalize their criticism of the treatment of women in Islamic countries but is willing to ignore the plight of Christian minorities in the same nations.

I admit to having my tongue in cheek earlier when I stated it was a “stunning revelation.” Anyone that follows the antics of the United Nations or the European Union wouldn’t be the least bit surprised while reading the ASSIST News Service post.

The UN and the EU have proven to be no friend to the Christians. We have little control of the EU, perhaps do vacation touring elsewhere or refuse to buy their products is a thought.
However, the UN is another matter. We need to insist on a complete reformation, including a housecleaning of personnel, starting at the highest levels. If this can’t be accomplished it may be time to pull the plug on UN funding and abandon the disaster.

She’s a Grand Old Flag

The American Civil Liberties Union is beginning to fidget again.

The House has passed the Flag Protection Amendment. The Amendment was written to protect the U.S. flag from desecration. It’s been a battle for several years to get the amendment passed through the House. Now it’s off to the Senate and if it clears there, it goes to the States for ratification.

You can read the entire article by Senior Editor, Melanie Hunter as it was posted CNSNews.com Here

The ACLU stands firmly against the Flag Protection Amendment citing the protection of free speech. They support the “right” to desecrate the American Flag. You can read details of their position Here at the ACLU’s web page.

The need for an amendment to protect the American Flag should never have been necessary. Why wouldn’t an American citizen naturally respect the nation’s flag?

Problems arose when protesters began burning American Flags back in the 60’s during the War in Vietnam. Somehow, flag burning became “free speech,” a right protected under the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Think about that, “free speech.” If burning our National Flag is free speech, what is being said? Isn’t speech about speaking? So, what is being said? What is the speech that is given?

Is burning the American Flag saying you hate America? Certainly there can be no argument over what the American Flag symbolizes.
The Flag represents America, doesn’t it? So, is burning Old Glory a way of saying I detest everything represented by the flag.

Is burning the flag saying you hate or at least disapprove of the American Government? Is it American Government policy that’s hated? Is burning the flag an expression of contempt for the military, is that the statement being made? High taxes? Just what is being said by burning the American flag?

The major problem in this free speech issue is, what is being said?
The American Flag represents so much more that the government. It symbolizes far more than government policy, foreign or domestic.

Our Flag represents things much broader than the military, much more than big industry.

You see Old Glory represents you and me, when you burn the flag you are saying you disrespect you and me, do you hate us?

Old Glory is a mighty symbol of our history and our culture. It’s a symbol of our pioneering spirit, our entrepreneurial genius.
The Stars and Stripes represents unequaled generosity to those less fortunate all over the globe. It symbolizes defending freedoms and the liberation of those overrun by dictators and despots.

It represents opportunities for education, the best medical facilities in the world.. Is contempt for all of these things, is hate for all of this what you’re expressing by burning the symbol that stands for America?

You can’t burn the flag and say it’s speech unless you stand against everything America stands for. You can’t separate a single issue.

If you burn Old Glory, the statement you’re making is “I hate every part of America and all America represents.

If that is the statement, the expression of your free speech, you don’t understand America. You’d be much happier living elsewhere.

Not everyone is cut out to be an American and that’s okay. You see, there are millions of people that would give all they have to live under Old Glory. They would trade places with you in a heartbeat.

I don’t believe burning our flag is “free speech.” I believe it’s a sign of disrespect for something you don’t understand. It’s desecration.

The ACLU needs to be defeated on this issue. Write to your Senator and let them know you support the Flag Protection Amendment.

Who’s Abusing The Quran Now?

The military guards and interrogators at Gitmo have been vilified in the main stream media repeatedly. Muslims have rioted, people have died, and apologies have been demanded. The cause of this entire calamity was of course, those reports that told of how the Quran had been abused in the detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

I’m not going to rehearse all the details of the accusations of abuse. I trust you’ve heard plenty by now about the alleged flushing down the toilet of a detainee’s Quran.. which by the way was never proven.

I’d like you to make note of another Quran abuse story. This time there were no American military in the area, but again, it involved Islamic Jihadists. The Jihadist is a 22-year-old female Palestinian security prisoner in Ashkelon’s Shikma Prison.

The article was written by Raanan Ben-Zur and was posted at Ynetnews.com. The entire article can be read Here

Read how she tore pages from her Quran and hid them in her skirt. Read how she blatantly disrespected the Quran and threw it toward a toilet.

Somehow, I doubt that the main stream media will pick-up on this story..there will be no riots, no demands to shut down the prison, no one else to blame.

Perhaps this article and this 22-year-old young woman will help us to put this entire Quran abuse matter into perspective..

Come Clean John Kerry

John Kerry just won’t come clean!

He sold himself as a war hero in his failed attempt to become President last year. You may remember, quite a few troopers served in Vietnam with John Kerry. They didn’t remember Senator Kerry being a war hero. A debate ensued concerning the legitimacy of John Kerry’s claim to the status of war hero.

Ha, you say, what’s the big deal? Just look at his war records, they will tell you what kind of a hero John Kerry was.

For us to see his military records, John has to sign a release form , it’s the “Standard Form 180”. After months of pleading, signed petitions, and constant attention being drawn to the matter, John signed the Standard Form 180. Ah, what a hero!

Well, John signed the form and submitted it to the Navy, giving permission to release his records.

We are half way there John. Now, how about coming clean and submitting that 180 form to the National Archives so we can see all the records?

If you don’t do it John, we can only believe there’s something you’re hiding. Is there a dishonorable discharge in there? Some believe that Jimmy Carter saw to it that your dishonorable discharge was forgiven and you were given an honorable discharge later.

Come clean John Kerry.. You are right out there demanding information, demanding investigations as if you have some moral authority..

It’s your turn John, come clean, show us all your stuff… or perhaps you might want to be a little less vocal, a little less demanding of others until you do.

I’m it.. I’ve been tagged by a meme on books. I’m the tagee and my friend Soldado De Oracion from The LORD My Dad is the tagger.

Have to admit that I’m new to this meme thing, but it looks like a good excuse to share a little personal information about ones self. Perhaps these personal glimpses can provide insights into what motivates each of us to blog and why we say what we say.

Anyway, it appears to be fun, like the many summer evenings we spent as kids playing in the neighborhood, just as dusk was closing in, before I’m done here someone else is going to get tagged.. Fact is, five people are going to be “it”. Those are the rules, if you’re tagged, you must tag five other bloggers to share in the meme on books. So, if you find your blog listed at the bottom of this, you’re “it”.

Here are the four questions that must answered and passed on to other bloggers:

Total Number Of Books Owned Ever:
Just guessing, 800.

Last Book Bought: American Soldier by General Tommy Franks (actually it was received as a gift)

Last Book I Read: Reagan a Life in Letters by Skinner, Anderson and Anderson

Five Books That Mean A Lot To Me:

1. The Pursuit of God by A. W. Tozer
2. Waiting on God by Andrew Murray
3. Imitation of Christ by Thomas A Kempis
4. Slouching Towards Gomorrah By Robert H. Bork
5. America’s God and Country By William J. Federer

Of course, the Book of Books, the all time best seller, the Holy Bible is at the very top of my list. Indeed, I’d trade all the books in the world for the Bible, I have several translations. But like Soldado De Oracion has already expressed along with Pastor John, the Bible really isn’t a book, it’s the Word of the Living God, in a class with no other book.

I acquired a love for books as a child and never lost that love. I only wish I had more time to spend exploring them. I strongly recommend to you younger folks, those with children at home, read to your babies. You can’t start too soon. I began reading to our daughter almost as soon after she was born, lots of children’s Bible stories and other fun stuff.

What a precious time of bonding, sitting in dad’s lap sharing a good book, after book after book. I know many of you won’t believe this, but she was beginning to read when she was two years old. Today she still loves books, and will graduate from college in December, having acquired her degree in just three and a half years. Yes, I’m proud!

Enough about me, you’re it.

Sorry if you’ve been tagged for this before.
You’re tagged:

God bless you and we’re looking forward to read about what you’re reading.

Douglas Wood Tortured ?

What fantastic news !!! Prayers have been answered !!!

“Iraqi and American forces spotted a form huddled beneath a blanket when they raided a home in a dangerous Sunni neighborhood Wednesday. The residents insisted it was their ailing father — but the unfazed troops knew they'd found their man: Australian hostage Douglas Wood.”

Intelligence information paid off! Important clues were gleaned after Operation Lightening, a broad counterinsurgency campaign launched in Baghdad at the end of May. Those tip-offs led to the freedom of Australian Douglas Wood.

You can read the entire article by Frank Griffiths, Associated Press Writer and posted on SFgate.com Here

I’d like to know how Wood was treated. Was he given 3 meals of Australian food everyday? Was Wood offered a Bible to read, was he given time to pray several times a day?

Can anyone tell me if he was given clean clothes and a place to shower each day?

The article is a little short on details, this is all it said;

“Warner declined to comment on whether Wood, who has a heart condition, was tortured. However, footage released May 7 showed a battered and bruised Wood with two machine guns held to his head.”

Was Wood tortured?

I demand a full investigation, it’s time to shut down these hostage taking operations. We need to get to the bottom of this and hold those responsible accountable. The entire western world is offended!

This man was held prisoner and no charges were ever filed against him. Where’s the international outcry? Where’s the main stream media attention?

A Christian Response

There’s a rumble in the distance, it’s growing in intensity and I believe it’s headed into your neighborhood. Many mainstream Americans are weary of seeing what used to be considered “normal” everyday life being attacked.

Sure, the only thing that is constant is change. Here in America, we’re always looking for “new and improved,” that’s American!

But when it’s not a better way, when there’s no improvement, when it’s tearing down what was sacred, respected and part of our national fabric, it’s time to stand up and be counted.

There’s a movement afoot that is beginning to do just that, standing up and looking to be counted. Folks are tired of being told that after countless generations, their values will not be respected, their traditions can not be continued and their heritage will not be recognized.

The American Civil Liberties Union (a misnomer if ever there was one) has been actively seeking to remove every vestige of Christianity from public life in America. Case after case could be cited to support my statement, but you know it’s true, you read the newspapers.

If you want to read more about the damage to America that the ACLU is doing, jump over and visit my good friends at Stop the ACLU Here. While you’re there check out the links to many insightful blogs and websites, if you want to join the cause, you’ll be welcome.

You can even read about the ACLU right here on this blog.

But I want to get back to that distant rumble I mentioned at the start of this post..

That rumble is coming from a group of Christians that have a common cause and a simple statement to make. Like many other Christians, they are weary of the ACLU’s harassment and intimidation of cities and small towns over a Christian Crosses on public property.

They have a plan, it’s called “Crosses aCross America”…It’s a beautiful thing. If you’re a Christian, put a Cross in your yard, perhaps in your window, a Cross on the bumper of your car would be great. I’m thinking a little Cross pin on my lapel or shirt pocket might be a nice touch. If the ACLU manages to get one Cross removed from a public place, we can replace it with thousands somewhere else.

What a powerful symbol that America is still a Christian nation and we are everywhere!

Visit Crosses aCross America at their website Here. It’s all about free speech, and if we speak with one voice, we will be heard. But really you don’t have to say much, put up your Cross, it will speak volumes.

God Bless America

Weekend Ponderings......

Just some things to ponder this weekend….

Certainly, no one could accuse Amnesty International of partisanship.

Amnesty’s Secretary-General Irene Khan merely compared the U.S. Naval Base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba with a Communist gulag, Stalinist style.

Do you think she was stretching the truth just a tad?

Then we have William F. Schulz, executive director of Amnesty USA,
issuing a statement calling Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld and other top administration officials "architects of torture." Mr. Schulz suggested that other countries could file war-crime charges against the top officials and arrest them.

Powerful stuff!

Ah, but for the fly in the ointment

Seems Mr. Schultz has a friend that opposed George W. Bush in a run for the White House last year..

Let me quote the Washington Times, the entire article can be read HERE

Federal Election Commission records show that William F. Schulz, executive director of Amnesty USA, contributed $2,000 to Mr. Kerry's campaign last year. Mr. Schulz also has contributed $1,000 to the 2006 campaign of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, Massachusetts Democrat.

Also, Joe W. "Chip" Pitts III, board chairman of Amnesty International USA, gave the maximum $2,000 allowed by federal law to John Kerry for President. Mr. Pitts is a lawyer and entrepreneur who advises the American Civil Liberties Union.”

Well, who would have ever guessed it? These people don't have an axe to grind now do they?

Then, is Al-Zarqawi dead?
If this butcher thought the desert in Iraq was hot…..Might be that he’s going to have his head sawed-off everyday for eternity..
Satan’s a prankster like that. Read the latest word on what some believe to be the fate of Zarqawi. Here Thanks to Adnkrnosinterantional

Today is the anniversary of the June 4th, 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown in China. The Communist fear freedom, but it’s coming, people want to be free. It broke my heart when this bloody massacre took place, I thought China would tumble like Communist Eastern Europe back then.

It’s not over, freedom will reign in China, but it’s a long hard road and the enemy of freedom is heartless and vicious. Read about the anniversary of the massacre Here.. Thanks to Radio Free China. Say a prayer for those still struggling for freedom in China.

Food for thought this weekend…
