Public Expression of Religion Act of 2005

Just a bit tired of your tax dollars going to support the American Civil Liberties Union?

Are you fed up with the ACLU bullying school systems, city governments and any other person or organization with the threat of a lawsuit aimed promoting their anti-Christian, anti-American agenda?
Their plan is coercion, see it our way or we’ll sue you out of existence.

Here’s an opportunity to stand up and be counted, a chance to fight back, a way to recover lost ground. Together we can work to get this gorilla off America’s back. House Bill HR 2679 IH
would take the money out of the law suits, the ACLU would lose interest..

Take a minute to contact your representative, tell them how you feel about taxpayer funding of the ACLU Here

America ! America !

Words can be powerful motivators, whether they be read, spoken or sung. Often, the originator of the words almost casually assembles them not understanding their power. Sometimes, words will just plain grip your heart, forcing you to consider them, making you ponder them.

I’m going to share a little story with you, perhaps we will arrive at some words you will ponder. Not my words, certainly no pondering of my words will be done.

Long years ago there was a professor at Wellesley College, she was the daughter of a pastor from Falmouth, Massachusetts.
Her name was Katharine Lee Bates, Miss Katharine Lee Bates.. During Katherine’s life, she penned several books and poems.

Miss Bates was lecturing in 1883 at the summer session at Colorado College. While there, she and some others took a side trip up Pikes Peak in a prairie wagon and on mule back. The view from the summit caused her to later write; "It was then and there, as I was looking out over the sea-like expanse..." she scribbled into her notebook the words of a poem that you will recognize as “America the Beautiful”.
You can read more about Miss Bates Here.

“America the Beautiful” has eight verses, each verse powerful enough to bring a lump in the throat and a tear to the eye of this old codger. I sure hope it’s not just me, but it causes pride to well up in this heart, pride in our history, pride in our people, pride in our land..

And now for those words I mentioned at the start of posting. The words are found in verse three of “America the Beautiful”

“O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife.
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life!
America! America!
May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain divine!”

There, in line three, “Who more than self their country loved” . Try and wrap yourself around those words, “Who more than self their country loved". Imagine that love. Most of us do a pretty good job of loving ourselves. It’s about, how do I feel? What about my future? Am I being appreciated? What kind of return will I get from this?

“Who more than self their country loved”… “Their country loved,” that’s us, “their country” They loved us more than they loved themselves. Many, many gave up their very lives so we could live ours in freedom. Many fought in cruel, unforgiving, merciless conditions so we might enjoy that hard won liberty today.

Reaching back through the halls of time they were there, ill equipped, battling the Red Coats, loving their country more than self.. Heroes, beginning a long tradition of brave heroes. Loving country more than self, truly something to ponder…

Throughout our history, they have been there, to this very day. Ordinary folks stepping forward to serve their nation, loving their country more than self.

Read that verse again.

“O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife.
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life!
America! America!
May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain divine!”

If you happen to attend a Memorial Day Parade, maybe a solemn ceremony in a cemetery somewhere across this great land, ponder Miss Bates’ words. If you get that lump in your throat or a tear wells up in the corner of your eye, it’s all right. I’ll be somewhere pondering those words too.

Here’s all eight verses of the wondrous song “America the Beautiful”

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for pilgrim feet
Whose stern impassioned stress
A thoroughfare of freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America!
God mend thine every flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law!

O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife.
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life!
America! America!
May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain divine!

O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for halcyon skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the enameled plain!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till souls wax fair as earth and air
And music-hearted sea!

O beautiful for pilgrims feet,
Whose stem impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till paths be wrought through
wilds of thought
By pilgrim foot and knee!

O beautiful for glory-tale
Of liberating strife
When once and twice,
for man's avail
Men lavished precious life!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till selfish gain no longer stain
The banner of the free!

O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
Till nobler men keep once again
Thy whiter jubilee!

Thank you Miss Bates…

If you don’t happen to be an American and this didn’t make any sense to you, don’t worry about it. Maybe, you had to be there…

Have a memorable Memorial Day

God Bless America

Those Holy Books

Today, in old London Town they were going wild!! It was cries of “kill George Bush”, “bomb, bomb New York” and “watch your back Osama is coming back”. A delightful little gathering of fun loving Muslims making a day of it. Details can be read Here in an AP article from the Jerusalem Post.Com

The “good times” were rolling in other places around the globe too. Over in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, Calcutta, India and in the territories of Palestine the Muslims took to the streets. Some were spiting on the American flag, while others burned our flag, still others were shouting “Death to America!, Death to Israel ! You can read the details Here as posted on Yahoo News in an AP article.

These gatherings didn’t reach the level of the riots in Afghanistan the other day where 17 people lost their lives. They were bad enough though.

What sparked these festivities? It was an article published by those brilliant folks at Newsweek magazine. Ever eager to support our troops and our nation, Newsweek published a story that ignited those gentle Muslim people into full riot mode. Turns out that the story they spun couldn’t be proven to be factual. So, after wrestling with it awhile, a bit of an apology, then at last they retracted the story. You can read about Newsweek Here as posted on CNN.com

The Newsweek story reported that military personal at the US prison facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba had desecrated a copy of the Quran.
The story was told that as a punishment for one of the detainees, a copy of the Quran was flushed down a toilet. When the Muslim world became aware of the incident, many literally went wild.

It seems a little bit of an over reaction to me. I’m a Christian and to me the Bible is a sacred book, God’s Word. However, it seems Islam is not so willing to give the same respect as it is now demanding. If you happen to find yourself arriving in Saudi Arabia, you won’t have your Bible there very long. They will confiscate your Bible at the airport and toss it into a shredder. If you bring several Bibles, they will be taken and you may get 70 lashes, it could cost you your life.. Read more about Muslim respect for the Holy Bible Here. You will be amazed at how much the Bible and those that read it are disrespected by those that now demand to be respected.. I’m not quite ready to riot though…

The answer to this problem is stunningly simple… There is a solution to the dilemma… The Muslim world could fall soundly asleep tonight, drift off peacefully knowing not another detainee in Guantanamo will lose his Quran in the toilet…(whether it ever happened the first time or not). Not a single Quran need ever suffer abuse at the prison..

Simply gather up each prisoner’s copy of the Quran and put it in a shoebox. Collect the prisoner’s other personal religious effects, store them in the shoebox too. You lock the box up in a secure cabinet and return the box to the prisoner when he’s released… Everything is safe and secure and no reason to riot.

I have a couple of questions though, where did those detainees get those copies of the Quran? Did the US Government (you and me) provide them? Say, that’s a pretty decent thing to do isn’t it?

Now, about those Christians in prisons in Saudi Arabia and other Islamic nations… are they being provided Bibles by their hosts?

It’s about time to stop apologizing and tell it like it is..

The ACLU, the Hooker's Friend?

If you know anything about the business of prostitution you know that it’s unhealthy….it degrades women, often subjecting them to the abuse of pimps and johns and it’s a steady down hill slide from there.

Seems strange, if people are being degraded you’ll find the ACLU close by. Problem is, in most cases the ACLU is on the wrong side of the issue, they’re picking and pulling at the fabric of American society. The ACLU is bad for America, bad for you and bad for me, they must be stopped.

Take a moment to read this article, it is also posted on “Stop the ACLU” You can find their link below..

Sex For Sale

The ACLU's Policy 211 is straightforward. "The ACLU supports the decriminalization of prostitution and opposes state regulation of prostitution". They base their argument on several points, including that existing laws are discrimination against women, and the right of individual privacy. They argue that what two consenting adults in private do is their own business.

Prostitution is private? But isn't the prostitute engaging in business, isn't she providing a service? Would we not regulate and license a business? You wouldn't want a general contractor to work on your house without a license would you? That would be unsafe as is an unregulated prostitute.

However, the ACLU doesn't believe in that philosophy. The question of privacy comes in if the government is allowed to regulate the oldest profession.

As for it being a privacy issue, it seems a contradiction to me when they also state that the "public" solicitation of prostitution is "entitled to the protection of the First Amendment". "It's not just the bedroom that the ACLU wishes to make off-limits to public censure, but also the local street corner, presumably even if that corner is regularly used by school children crossing the street." Source

Privacy applies to two consenting adults when no contract is involved; a date with no expectation of performance is a far cry from paying for a service.

And what good would it do for women's rights to decriminalize this? One could argue that women should not be punished for their own exploitation. But how does decriminalizing pimps, buyers, procurers, brothels or other sex establishments offer any solution to this? Decriminalization would do nothing but expand the sex industry and send a message to society that it is acceptable. And a system unregulated would do nothing for women's health, and would only promote the spread disease.

The more I learn about the ACLU, the more I am convinced that they want to establish a new society based on everything immoral. They are blinded by their elitist ideology to the point they can't even conceive of the possible consequences that will result if they are enacted. The scary thing is that they hold so much power, and lack so much responsibility. They must be stopped.

The Millstone

Have you ever seen a millstone? What do you suppose the stone weighed? Well, depending on the size of the stone they can weigh anywhere from 400 lbs to well over 2 tons. It’s a lot of weight no matter how you shake it. If your interest has been sparked, Charles Howell has plenty to say about millstones here.

It’s truly not millstones or their history that are the subject of this post. It’s the tremendous weight of a millstone that’s of interest to me. Imagine having millstone around your neck, think of the dead weight. Think of the inconvenience……think of the attention you would attract. The first thing people would notice is your millstone. “Good grief, look at the size of that stone!” people would snicker.

You’d probably do whatever it took to rid yourself of that millstone. Any reasonable person would. Suppose you were offered a deal, I’ll trade you a sheet of paper that weighs 4.8- grams for that millstone. (Oh, by the way, you have to sign the paper too.)

What’s on that sheet of paper? It’s just a form, a release form, a standard release form. It’s a Standard Form 180. Signing that 4.8-gram Standard Form 180 would allow you to free yourself of that millstone.

I’m talking about a promise Senator John Kerry made to America, Sunday, January 30th, 2005 on “Meet the Press” with Tim Russert.

The Senator was asked if he would sign the Standard Form 180, releasing his military records to the public. The Senator said he would sign it. As of this day John Kerry has refused to keep his word…Any reasonable person would be suspicious of his refusal to sign that form.

Clear your name John Kerry !!!! You can have no credibility until you sign the form John. Allay our suspicions.

Sign the Standard Form 180 or continue to wear that millstone around your neck…

Be certain of this Senator Kerry, where ever you go, what ever position you may seek, there will be someone to remind you and America of that millstone you wear around your neck….

Improve Your Health

Do you want to be healthier? Come on now, everyone’s whining about the rising cost of health care. If you can make out of the gas station and the drug store and still have a little jingle in your pocket, you’re living right.

Seriously, do you want to improve your chances of better health? Get to church !!! It’s good for you, it’s good for your health, mind, body and spirit. It’s not just crawling out of bed Sunday morning and heading for church that does it. People that go to church tend to live healthier life styles. You know, they’re likely to swear-off the cigarettes, not as likely to get depressed, they make new friends, develop relationships and often become more physically active. Many even get married to someone they met at church….. I did.

An interesting article was published in the Wall Street Journal and was re-posted at azcentral.com titled “Statistics link religion, health.” Kevin Helliker wrote the article. Read It Here

Read the entire post, then dust off that Bible, set the alarm next Saturday night and I’ll be looking for you in Sunday School. Come on, you’ll be healthier for it.

The Right to Vote ?

"The ACLU, along with seven national organizations, participates in Right to Vote, a national coalition to end felony disfranchisement policies.

The ACLU is also conducting an ex-felon public education and mobilization campaign with affiliates in Georgia, New Jersey, North Carolina and Southern California, to educate ex-felons about their voting rights and to encourage them to vote".Per ACLU

First, let me ask you a question. Is voting a right or a privilege? If you look at the numerous rights listed in the Declaration of Independence, and the constitution itself, there is no mention of voting rights. For those who believe they have a "right to vote," here's a little history lesson.

"The American founders were well versed in the miseries of majority rule and of the historical failures of democracies.

So, they went about forming a government which would protect the rights of everyone, especially the minority, from the tyranny of mob rule (democracy).
We often forget in our time that those who created the U.S. Constitution and the U.S. government itself had been a distinct political minority for many years. They knew first hand how dangerous majority rule and democracies can be. They knew instinctively that when the mob gets rolling, the rights of individuals are of no consequence.

"Trial, we don't need no stinkin' trial! He's guilty, string him up!" They knew that in a democracy, no one's rights are secure and that sooner or later the majority would find a way to sack the treasury and bleed it dry. That's why they formed a representative republic. In a republic form of government, which we are guaranteed by the national and state constitutions, there must be a limited franchise to vote.

Voting in a republic is not a right, it is a privilege. The American founders then went one step further, and insisted that voting privileges be determined by each state legislature, not the national or federal government. It worked quite well for more than 100 years ... then came "reconstruction" after the U.S. vs. CSA conflict in the 1860s. That's when the socialist move for a "full democracy" began. It has flourished ever since, slowly but surely eroding the original guarantees of a republic form of government by planting ideas that every person has a "right to vote," simply ignoring constitutional restraints against such a notion."
excerpt

The 14th Amendment permits states to deny the vote "for participation in rebellion, or other crime." In 32 states convicted felons have the "privilege" to vote. Only 13 states now forbid convicted felons from voting, with just nine of these imposing lifetime bans. Two states, Vermont and Maine, even allow felons currently doing time to vote like any other citizen. The fact is that it isn't about the felon's "rights". What it comes down to is states rights.

Ignoring the fact that the ACLU is trampling on states rights for the moment, I will defend the decision of these states as deserving applause. Felons include murderers, rapists, and child molesters. Why should those who break the law have any right to vote for those who make and enforce the law? Why should convicted criminal have any say in who becomes sheriff or judge? And why stop at the "right" to vote? Why not restore a convicted murderer the right to own a gun?

Now, the subject of criminals serving time having some "right" to vote is just ludicrous to me. But when it comes to the subject of ex-prisoner felons being able to vote, it has to be approached with much more care.

Many believe that once a felon has served their time they have paid their price to society, and with their reinstated citizenship they should be given back it's full privileges including that of voting. In many cases the person has learned their lesson, and goes back into society to contribute positively, a truly changed individual for the better. And personally, I think people like this should regain their citizenship in full with all of it's benefits, including voting. But on the other hand, many come out of prison conditioned, and hardened, only to return to a life of crime...in many cases worse than before. In my opinion every citizen has a social contract with society, that once broken has also broken the trust of society. It really comes down to rehabilitation, and being given parole is not a true gauge to measure this by. I would have no problem giving ex-prisoner felons back their full citizen privileges after a specified period of time in which they commit no other felonies, and prove their good citizenship.

I know another argument from the left which states that laws denying formerly incarcerated criminals their "right" to vote is a remnant of the "old Jim Crow laws". These people believe the laws are racially motivated. They base their argument off of the statistics showing that almost one third of convicted felons are black.

Instead of confronting the fact that a grossly disproportionate percentage of crime is committed by black men, however, they twist it around and claim it is another example of institutionalized white racism. Of course, they conveniently leave out the fact that any convicted felon, despite their race, loses the right to vote in the states that forbid it.

If you think the disproportionate amount of blacks convicted of felonies is due to a flawed judicial system, I won't argue with you. I also have qualms with our judicial system.

Despite all of the arguments, it all comes down to states' rights. If a state has decided to make part of the punishment of a felony the loss of their voting privileges permanently, or bear arms, this can not be infringed upon by the federal government, or the ACLU. Those who violate the rights of others have proven that they want the benefits of society without the burden of obeying its laws. They can hardly complain when a majority of their fellow citizens deny them the right to choose who make the laws. When one is convicted of a felony, they lose many rights and privileges. I definitely don't think incarcerated felons should be able to vote, as the ACLU does. And as far as them regaining those privileges once they finish their prison term....it shouldn't be unconditional or automatic the way the ACLU thinks.

Bolt the Door, Bar the Windows

Ever been to Sweden? I spent a day in Malmo many moons ago, it was a great place. Fantastic beaches on the Baltic Sea and tall blonde women. We’d been in Copenhagen for about a week and decided to take a shuttle across to Sweden for the day. Since this isn’t a travel blog I won’t go into the details.

Sweden’s not the place it used to be. The changes are down right scary. Muslim terrorists have threatened to launch a series of attacks against Sweden. The threats were posted on at least a couple of Islamic website.

If you research a bit you’ll find that Sweden has painted herself into a corner. The Swedes have played that sorry game America is engaged in right now, “political correctness.” It’s payday for them. They have yielded so much and have been willing to overlook so much, Sweden barely belongs to the Swedes.

What is happening in Sweden today may well be a glimpse of the way things will soon be in America, if we don’t take a stand quickly.

If you want to see how swiftly matters can get out of hand (perhaps irreversibly so) please, please read “Islamist threats to attack Sweden pre-date "offensive" comments” Read it Here, there is much more than the title implies.

The article was posted on Internet Haganah .Org by Aaron, with references to LittleGreenFootballs, Jihad Watch and others.

Don’t just read the article, click on each and every link. It will take a while, but you will come back and thank me when you do.

We are in a war, and to call it less is foolishness…..

My family has lived as Christians in America for well over 350 years, we’re not going anywhere, it doesn’t disturb me in the least if I’m politically incorrect.
